Stored XSS via unchecked cookie banner settings
Published Jul 6, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Stored XSS in IZSoft Easy Cookies Policy 1.6.2 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to inject script through banner settings. The settings handler performs no capability or CSRF check, then stores banner text without sanitization and outputs it on frontend and administrative pages. Subscriber access suffices; alternatively, a context-dependent attacker can submit the setting through CSRF, causing the stored script to run for page visitors or administrators.
