Unauthenticated comment disclosure via attachment ID tampering
Published Jun 21, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Authorization bypass in Automattic Jetpack before 9.8 allows remote attackers to read comments attached to non-public posts and pages. The get_attachment_comments AJAX action accepts a user-controlled id and retrieves comments for that media attachment without checking its parent post's publication status. No authentication or user interaction is required, and exposure is limited to attachment comments associated with unpublished content.
