Stored XSS via unsanitized profile name
Published Jun 21, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Stored XSS in WP Config File Editor 1.7.1 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to execute JavaScript through a profile name. The profile-creation AJAX action stores the profileForm[name] value without neutralizing script content before rendering it in the administration interface. Administrator access is required by default; installations granting the plugin to lower-privileged users expose privilege escalation when a privileged user views the stored payload.
