Arbitrary file placement via unchecked upload directory
Published Aug 16, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Path traversal in 10Web Photo Gallery before 1.5.75 allows remote authenticated users with high privileges to write images or SVGs anywhere. The bwg_UploadHandler AJAX action accepts a dir value such as /../ and joins it to the upload destination without confining the resolved path to the plugin folder. A high-privilege WordPress session and valid nonce are required; exploitation places attacker-supplied image or SVG content outside the intended gallery directory.
