Arbitrary reset emails via unchecked AJAX request
Published Jun 14, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Improper access control in The Plus Addons for Elementor before 4.1.11 allows remote attackers to send crafted password-reset emails. The unauthenticated theplus_ajax_forgot_password_ajax action accepts a page nonce and attacker-controlled recipient, subject, body, and reset-link parameters without verifying the requester. The WP Login & Register widget must be active and present; paired with the separate open redirect and a recipient click, the email exposes a reset key and enables account takeover.
