Authenticated redirect manipulation via unchecked AJAX actions
Published Jun 14, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Missing authorization in WPDeveloper Simple 301 Redirects 2.0.0 through 2.0.3 allows remote authenticated users to alter wildcard redirects. The wildcard and get_wildcard AJAX handlers accept a broadly obtainable WordPress REST nonce but perform no capability check before reading or writing the wildcard setting. Any authenticated account can retrieve the setting or change how broadly redirect rules apply, causing unintended site routing.
