Authenticated script execution via unencoded profile query
Published May 24, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Reflected XSS in Ultimate Member before 2.1.20 allows remote authenticated users to run script in another member's browser via a crafted link. The edit-profile link generator places the request query string into the link without adequate sanitization, validation, or output encoding. Exploitation requires knowledge of the targeted username and interaction by the corresponding logged-in user, allowing script execution in that user's session.
