Administrator-only stored XSS via unescaped textarea input
Published May 24, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Stored XSS in Hotjar Connecticator 1.1.1 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to execute script through the Hotjar script field. A closing textarea sequence is accepted without effective neutralization, persisted in the setting, and rendered into site pages where the injected script runs. Administrator access and a valid CSRF nonce are required, and successful exploitation runs attacker-controlled JavaScript in the browsers of site visitors.
