Contributor-level stored XSS via unrestricted widget heading tags
Published May 17, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Stored XSS in weDevs Happy Addons for Elementor before 2.24.0 and Pro before 1.17.0 allows remote authenticated users to run JavaScript. Multiple widgets trust a heading-tag value from a save_builder request, allowing script as the HTML tag around attacker-controlled title data. Contributor access is sufficient; the payload executes when another user views or previews the saved page, enabling browser-context data access or page actions.
