Subscriber-level settings modification via unprotected AJAX actions
Published May 14, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Incorrect authorization in Redirection for Contact Form 7 before 2.3.4 allows remote authenticated users to alter settings via AJAX. Multiple wp-admin/admin-ajax.php handlers, including wpcf7r_reset_settings and wpcf7r_add_action, invoke privileged operations without nonce or capability checks. Subscriber-level access is sufficient to reset settings or add and delete form actions, affecting stored configuration and site behavior.
