Subscriber-level plugin installation via unchecked AJAX import
Published May 14, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Incorrect authorization in Redirection for Contact Form 7 before 2.3.4 allows remote authenticated users to install repository plugins. The import_from_debug AJAX handler accepts attacker-controlled debug data and invokes install_plugins without a capability check or nonce validation. Subscriber-level access is sufficient to add attacker-selected WordPress repository code to the site, altering its executable plugin set.
