Stored XSS via unescaped html_tag output
Published May 5, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Stored XSS in DethemeKit for Elementor before 1.5.5.5 allows remote authenticated users to run JavaScript through the De Page/Post Title widget. The widget accepts an html_tag value in a save_builder request and outputs it without filtering or escaping, so a crafted script tag persists in page content. Contributor access is sufficient, and the code runs when another user views or previews the saved page, enabling actions in that viewer’s browser session.
