Contributor-level stored XSS via unenforced HTML tags
Published May 5, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Stored XSS in Crocoblock JetWidgets For Elementor before 1.0.9 allows remote authenticated users to run JavaScript in visitors' browsers. Multiple widget controls accept attacker-supplied HTML tag names in save_builder requests without enforcing their configured allowlists, then emit those names when rendering saved content. Contributor access is sufficient, and execution occurs when another user views or previews the crafted page, allowing actions in that user's browser context.
