Stored XSS via unenforced widget tag parameters
Published May 5, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Stored XSS in WidgetKit for Elementor before 2.3.10 allows remote authenticated users to inject JavaScript through widget tag settings. Content Carousel and several other widgets trust client-supplied HTML tag parameters from save_builder requests and render them without filtering or output escaping. Contributor access to the Elementor editor is required, and the stored script runs when another user views, edits, or previews the page, enabling actions in that user's browser session.
