Contributor-level stored XSS via unvalidated widget tags
Published May 5, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Stored XSS in HasThemes HT Mega Addons for Elementor before 1.5.7 allows remote authenticated users to execute JavaScript in visitors' browsers. The affected widgets accept attacker-controlled HTML tag parameters in save_builder requests and render them without validation or output escaping. A contributor account and a later page view or preview are required; the script runs in that viewer's browser and can take over the site if the viewer is an administrator.
