Authenticated stored XSS via unsanitized chat messages
Published May 5, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Stored XSS in PureThemes WorkScout before 2.0.33 and WorkScout Core before 1.3.4 allows remote authenticated users to run browser script. The workscout_send_message_chat AJAX action stores the message parameter without sanitizing script or embedded-frame markup before display. An authenticated account can post the payload, and execution requires another user to view the stored conversation; the script runs in the site's origin.
