CVE-2021-24229Network attack vector

Reflected XSS via unsanitized AJAX parameter

Published Apr 12, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024

Cross-site scripting in Patreon WordPress before 1.7.2 allows remote authenticated users to execute script via a crafted AJAX request. The patreon_save_attachment_patreon_level action copies the patreon_attachment_patreon_level request parameter into the image-lock form without sanitization or output escaping, reflecting attacker-controlled markup in the administrator page. An attacker must induce a logged-in WordPress administrator to submit the request; script execution then runs with that administrator’s browser privileges and can alter accessible site data.
