Contributor-level stored XSS via unvalidated Icon Box tag
Published Apr 5, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Stored cross-site scripting in Elementor Website Builder before 3.1.4 allows remote authenticated users to execute JavaScript in viewers' browsers. The Icon Box widget in includes/widgets/icon-box.php accepts a crafted title_size value from save_builder and emits it as an HTML tag without server-side validation or output escaping. Contributor-level Elementor editor access is required, and execution occurs when another user views or previews the saved page, exposing that user's session to page modification or site takeover.
