Contributor-level stored XSS via unescaped tag parameter
Published Apr 5, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Stored XSS in the accordion widget in Elementor Website Builder before 3.1.4 allows remote authenticated users to execute JavaScript. The accordion renderer in includes/widgets/accordion.php accepts title_html_tag from a modified save_builder request and emits it as markup without filtering or escaping. Contributor privileges are required to save the payload, and execution occurs in the browser of anyone viewing or previewing the poisoned page, enabling access to or modification of content available to that session.
