Authenticated plugin installation via unchecked AJAX action
Published May 14, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Improper authorization in WP-Buy Login as User or Customer before 1.8 allows remote authenticated users to install or activate plugins. The cp_plugins_do_button_job_later_callback AJAX handler accepts a repository slug or installed plugin path without sufficient capability enforcement. Any low-privileged WordPress account can alter site code by installing a chosen plugin version or activating an installed plugin, enabling follow-on compromise.
