Subscriber-level plugin installation via unchecked AJAX authorization
Published May 14, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Improper authorization in WP-Buy Visitor Traffic Real Time Statistics before 2.12 allows remote authenticated users to install plugins. The cp_plugins_do_button_job_later_callback AJAX handler accepts a plugin slug or plugin_file and installs or activates it without enforcing an administrative capability. Any low-privilege WordPress account can reach the handler, enabling installation of chosen repository versions or activation of installed plugins; code execution requires a separately vulnerable plugin.
