Arbitrary plugin installation via unchecked AJAX authorization
Published May 14, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Improper authorization in WP-Buy Conditional Marketing Mailer for WooCommerce before 1.5.2 allows remote authenticated users to install plugins. The cp_plugins_do_button_job_later_callback method accepts attacker-controlled slug or plugin_file values and invokes privileged installation or activation paths without verifying the caller’s authorization. Any low-privilege WordPress account can add a repository plugin or activate an installed plugin, enabling server-side code execution when the chosen plugin supplies executable functionality.
