Authenticated code execution via unrestricted theme ZIP extraction
Published Apr 5, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Arbitrary file upload in ExpressTech Systems Responsive Menu and Responsive Menu Pro before 4.0.4 allows remote authenticated users to execute PHP. The rmp_upload_theme function handles the admin_post_rmp_upload_theme_file action without checking the uploader's capability and extracts ZIP contents, including PHP files, into the web-accessible /rmp-menu/themes/ directory. A subscriber account is sufficient to place and invoke a PHP payload, permitting commands to run with the WordPress server process's privileges.
