CVE-2021-24116

RSA key disclosure via cache-indexed base64 decoding

Published Jul 14, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024

Information disclosure in wolfSSL before 4.6.0 allows local users to recover RSA key information during PEM decoding. The base64 decoder uses a secret-dependent lookup table instead of constant-time decoding, exposing accessed cache lines during key loading. Exploitation requires system-level control of an isolated environment that can single-step execution, as demonstrated with Intel SGX.
