Unspecified impact via invalid typeof simplification
Published Dec 13, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Type confusion in Meta Platforms Hermes before 0.10.0 allows attackers to cause unspecified impact via crafted JavaScript using typeof. The lib/IR/IREval.cpp unary-operator evaluator treated an invalid literal kind as unreachable while simplifying typeof instead of declining the simplification. Reachability requires an embedding application to evaluate untrusted JavaScript; most React Native applications do not expose that condition.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
