Code execution via invalid getter and setter syntax
Published Jan 15, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Type confusion in Meta Platforms, Inc. Hermes before 0.10.0 allows attackers to crash the engine or execute code via crafted JavaScript. Hermes invokes generator functions for invalid await or yield expressions in non-async, non-generator getter/setter functions, causing incompatible types to reach error handling. Exploitation requires a host application to evaluate attacker-controlled JavaScript; a successful trigger causes a segmentation fault, with code execution assessed as low probability.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
