Password disclosure via cleartext user-creation logging
Published Apr 12, 2021 · Updated Oct 25, 2024
Cleartext logging in Fortinet FortiADCManager 5.3.0 and earlier and FortiADC 5.3.7 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to read passwords. When an administrator creates a local user, the products record that user's password as cleartext in a log file. Exposure requires an administrator to create a user and the attacker to have authenticated log access, limiting the consequence to disclosed local-user passwords.
