Authenticated shell access via diagnose command injection
Published Jun 3, 2021 · Updated Oct 25, 2024
OS command injection in Fortinet FortiAI 1.4.0 and earlier allows local users to gain system shell access through the diagnose command. The diagnose command fails to neutralize shell metacharacters in an authenticated user's payload before passing it to the system shell. Successful exploitation requires a valid account with CLI access and grants command execution in the appliance's underlying system shell.
