CVE-2021-2401Network attack vector

Information disclosure via DOMParser external entity expansion

Published Jul 20, 2021 · Updated Sep 26, 2024

XXE in the DOMParser endpoint in Oracle BI Publisher 5.5.0.0.0, 11.1.1.9.0, 12.2.1.3.0, and 12.2.1.4.0 allows remote attackers to read data. The endpoint's XML parser resolves a URI in a crafted external entity and embeds the retrieved contents into the XML document for further processing. No authentication is required, and the endpoint listens on TCP port 9502 by default, exposing data readable by the service account.
