Browsing disclosure via hidden DevTools debugging socket
Published Mar 31, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Information disclosure in Mozilla Firefox before 87 allows remote attackers to monitor browsing and plaintext traffic through DevTools. Specific about:config values can open a DevTools remote-debugging network socket without the visual cue that would alert the user. The attacker must first alter local preferences, such as through malware, and then make a direct network connection; exposure is limited to observed browsing activity and plaintext traffic.
