Directory disclosure via auto-confirmed folder picker
Published Feb 26, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Information disclosure in Mozilla Firefox before 85 allows remote attackers to read a local directory through a crafted webpage. The file picker for input[webkitdirectory] focused an acceptance control for the default or last-used folder, so repeated Enter keystrokes confirmed an entire directory without a distinct consent step. A user must open the page, invoke the picker, and hold Enter; exposed files are limited to the directory accepted by the dialog.
