Session script execution via unescaped image filenames
Published Jan 12, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Stored XSS in OX App Suite 7.10.4 and earlier allows remote attackers to execute script in a user's session via a crafted inline-image filename. When producing a raw representation of a large HTML email, the backend inserts an inline-image filename into an HTML attribute without escaping or sanitizing it. Exploitation requires a recipient to open the malicious email and select Show entire message, enabling session hijacking or unwanted web-interface actions.
