Process-memory disclosure via unchecked channel payload index
Published May 13, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Out-of-bounds read in Mercedes-Benz HERMES 2.1 RemoteDiagnosisApp allows local users to read process memory through channel 10 payloads. The get_ovci_chn function reads beyond its array while parsing a channel 10 payload sent by the SH2A MCU through blockIpcServer. Access to the local interprocessor message path with low privileges is required, and disclosure is limited to memory reachable by the affected process.
