High-impact replication flaw enables crash and data modification
Published Jul 20, 2021 · Updated Sep 26, 2024
Integrity and availability vulnerability in Oracle MySQL MySQL Server 5.7.34 and earlier and 8.0.25 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to disrupt the server or modify data via the MySQL replication protocol. Oracle identifies the vulnerable locus only as the Server: Replication component and does not publicly describe the specific faulty operation on untrusted input. Exploitation requires high privileges and network access; successful attacks can hang or repeatedly crash the server and permit unauthorized updates, inserts, or deletes.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
