Local file disclosure via file URL iframe rendering
Published Jan 21, 2022 · Updated Sep 16, 2024
Path traversal in Neocotic convert-svg-core, convert-svg-to-png, and convert-svg-to-jpeg before 0.6.0 allows remote attackers to read local files. The converter passes SVG markup containing file URL iframe references to headless Chromium and captures the rendered page as an image without blocking local-resource loads. Exploitation requires an application to convert attacker-controlled SVG content; files readable by the conversion process can appear in the returned PNG or JPEG.
