Open redirect via unvalidated return_url
Published Feb 25, 2022 · Updated Sep 16, 2024
Open redirect in Karma before 6.3.16 allows remote attackers to send users to attacker-controlled sites via the return_url query parameter. The client/karma.js and static/karma.js handlers navigate to return_url values without an allowlist, accepting external destinations until the patched allowedReturnUrlPatterns check is applied. User interaction is required to follow the redirected link, limiting the demonstrated impact to redirect-based phishing and related confidentiality or integrity exposure.
