Regular expression denial of service in npm hosted-git-info before 3.0.8 allows remote attackers to interrupt service via crafted repository URLs. The fromUrl function applies the nested, ambiguous shortcutMatch expression in index.js to an entire untrusted URL, producing polynomial worst-case matching time. Exploitation requires a consuming application to pass attacker-controlled repository strings to this API and can exhaust its processing capacity.
