Local code execution via unquoted service path
Published Nov 18, 2021 · Updated Sep 16, 2024
Unquoted service path handling in Gallagher Security Command Centre 8.50 before 8.50.2048 allows local users to execute code as the service account. The Controller Service registers its executable path without quotation marks, allowing Windows to select an attacker-planted executable from a writable earlier path segment. An unprivileged local user needs write access along that path and a service start to run code with the service account's privileges.
