Privilege escalation in MySQL Server 5.7.33 and earlier and 8.0.23 and earlier allows local users to execute code as SYSTEM. The Windows package embeds an OpenSSL OPENSSLDIR beneath C:\build_area, where an unprivileged user can place a crafted openssl.cnf that the privileged service loads. Exploitation requires local logon and a separate user or service action; successful execution grants SYSTEM access and control of MySQL-accessible data.
