Remote code execution via localhost6 inspector allowlist
Published Mar 3, 2021 · Updated Apr 30, 2025
DNS rebinding in the Node.js inspector before 10.24.0, 12.21.0, 14.16.0, and 15.10.0 allows remote attackers to execute code. HttpHandler::IsAllowedHost in src/inspector_socket.cc accepts localhost6 even when that name resolves through attacker-controlled DNS. Exploitation requires an active inspector and a malicious website opened on a machine that can reach it; successful access grants full code execution in the Node.js process.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
