Arbitrary code execution via malicious GD1 file
Published Jan 28, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Out-of-bounds write in Schneider Electric GUIcon 2.0 (Build 683.003) and earlier allows context-dependent attackers to execute code. While loading a crafted .gd1 configuration file, GUIcon writes beyond an allocated memory boundary; the affected parser routine is undisclosed. Exploitation requires user interaction to load the malicious file, after which code can run on the host PC with the user's privileges.
