Authenticated code execution via uploaded Lua script
Published Feb 11, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Improper authentication in C-Bus Toolkit 1.15.9 and earlier and C-Gate Server 2.11.7 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to execute code. C-Gate's PROJECT RESTORE and PROJECT ARCHIVE commands place attacker-controlled files in the Lua directory, while LUA RUN executes main.lua and its os.execute call launches the uploaded executable. A C-Gate Admin session can create a Max-level user to reach the file commands; the demonstrated Windows payload runs as Network Service, or as SYSTEM in C-Gate Server 2.11.5 and earlier.
