Module reset via malformed TriStation packets
Published May 26, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Improper condition handling in Schneider Electric Triconex Model 3009 MP on Tricon 11.3.x allows physically proximate attackers to reset the module. The TCM accepts malformed TriStation packets without correctly handling exceptional conditions, causing the 3009 MP module to reset. Physical access and the write-protect keyswitch in the program position are required, and the documented consequence is a temporary availability loss.
