CVE-2021-22716

SYSTEM code execution via writable installer folders

Published Apr 13, 2021 · Updated Sep 16, 2024

Privilege escalation in Schneider Electric C-Bus Toolkit before 1.15.9 allows local users to execute code as SYSTEM via folder writes. The installer assigns writable permissions to product folders, letting an unprivileged user replace files that later run with elevated rights. Exploitation requires low-privileged code execution on the Windows host and yields full SYSTEM-context execution rather than a network-only compromise.
