Code execution via FPJ parser buffer overwrite
Published Mar 3, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Out-of-bounds write in FATEK Automation Corporation FvDesigner 1.5.76 and earlier allows attackers to execute code via crafted FPJ files. The FPJ parser fails to validate user-supplied file data before writing beyond the end of an allocated buffer. Exploitation requires a user to open the malicious project file or visit a malicious page, after which code runs in the FvDesigner process context.
