Local privilege escalation via writable installation files
Published Apr 23, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Improper access control in Horner Automation Cscape before 9.90 SP4 allows local users to escalate privileges by replacing installed files. The default all-users installation grants unprivileged accounts read and write access to Cscape binaries and configuration files. A local account is required; modifying those files can cause attacker-controlled code or configuration to run with higher privileges.
