Administrator takeover via exposed password update
Published Apr 26, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Incorrect permission assignment in Advantech WebAccess/SCADA 9.0.1 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to gain administrator access. The Project Management page exposes its administrator-password update operation to low-privileged accounts because of its default permission assignment. A valid low-privileged portal account is required; the changed credentials permit administrator login and full control of the SCADA system.
