Administrator escalation via unvalidated UserServlet query
Published Feb 11, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
SQL injection in Advantech iView before 5.7.03.6112 allows remote authenticated users to gain Administrator access via a crafted request. The UserServlet class uses an insufficiently validated user-supplied string to construct SQL queries, enabling an Admin password reset. Authentication is required, but the existing authentication mechanism can be bypassed; successful exploitation grants administrative control.
