Code execution via out-of-bounds 3DS importer read
Published Feb 23, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Out-of-bounds read in Luxion KeyShot products before 10.1 allows remote attackers to execute code through a malicious 3DS file. The luxion_geometry_3ds.exe importer insufficiently validates attacker-controlled data and reads past an allocated structure, crashing the process. Attackers must persuade a user to open or import the file; successful exploitation executes code in the current process context.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.

What attackers are doing with it
Daily unique IPs observed by Shadowserver honeypots for known exploited vulnerabilities (KEVs). Missing observations do not establish an absence of attacks.
