Service interruption via insufficiently validated file parsing
Published Apr 28, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Arbitrary memory write in Huawei P30 file parsing allows remote attackers to interrupt a service through a crafted file. The parser insufficiently validates file input before writing to memory, allowing attacker-controlled data to reach an out-of-bounds write; Huawei has not disclosed the parser, file type, or write target. Exploitation requires inducing a user to download the file, and the published impact is limited to abnormal operation of an affected service rather than device-wide failure.
